Food Truck, Kiosk & Stall
A practical halal certification guide for small and mobile food SMEs in Malaysia.
Important reminder: The Premis Bergerak (Mobile Premises) and Kiosk categories are stated in the MPPHM (Manual Prosedur Pensijilan Halal Malaysia, the Malaysia Halal Certification Procedure Manual) 2020 (2026 Amendment). However, gerai (stall) is a term for a type of business, not an automatic confirmation of a certification scheme. Whether a permanent, seasonal or food court stall is suitable needs to be checked against the premises, licence, kitchen and scope of operation.

Differences you must understand
- Halal-certified does not simply mean a Muslim-owned business.
- A PBT licence is not the same as the SPHM (Sijil Pengesahan Halal Malaysia, the Malaysia Halal Certificate).
- A KKM food handler course does not replace halal requirements.
- The status of the source kitchen needs to be checked; a raw material certificate is not a kitchen certificate.
- Three kiosks/trucks of the same brand can lead to the requirements for chain food premises.
